Committees > Standing Committees
Standing CommitteesIn accordance with the SOCCA Bylaws, three standing committees are established to support the governance and operation of the Society. These committees fulfill core functions related to oversight, leadership succession, and organizational integrity. The responsibilities and composition of each are defined in the Bylaws and summarized below. Executive CommitteeThe Executive Committee is composed of the President, President-Elect, Immediate Past-President, Secretary, and Treasurer. This committee exercises the authority of the Board of Directors in managing the business and affairs of the Society, subject to any limitations or restrictions imposed by the Board. It serves as the operational leadership body between regular Board meetings. Nominating CommitteeChaired by the Immediate Past-President, the Nominating Committee is responsible for preparing and recommending a slate of nominees for Directors and Officers of the Society. Members of this committee do not need to be current or former Board or committee members, allowing for broad participation and perspective in the leadership selection process. Bylaws CommitteeConvened at least once every five years, the Bylaws Committee is charged with reviewing the Society’s Bylaws and recommending amendments when necessary or appropriate. Its purpose is to ensure that SOCCA’s foundational governance document remains current, functional, and aligned with the evolving needs of the organization. |
